A young woman is lucky to be alive after falling off her skateboard and being dragged about 10 feet after landing under a moving pick-up truck in North Vancouver recently.

The accident happened around 4 p.m. in the afternoon of Oct. 30, in the 1200 block of Marine Drive.

The woman had been riding her skateboard at high speed when she struck a gap in the sidewalk, fell and landed under the truck that was exiting a parking lot, according to North Vancouver RCMP.

Two witnesses in a nearby vehicle told the North Shore News that several passersby ran up to the truck to stop the driver after seeing the woman get dragged.

Luckily, the woman escaped with only minor injuries, including abrasions and a sore knee, police said.

The woman was transported to hospital but released a short time later.
