City of North Vancouver mayor re-elected Metro Vancouver vice chair for third term

City of North Vancouver Mayor Linda Buchanan is set to serve as vice chair of Metro Vancouver for a third straight term, it was announced yesterday.

In addition, Burnaby Coun. Sav Dhaliwal has also been acclaimed as chair of the board for a third term, according to a release from Metro Vancouver.

The pair is also once again charged with overseeing issues related to drinking water, sewage and drainage for the regional authority through the Greater Vancouver Sewerage and Drainage District and the Greater Vancouver Water District.

The position also mandates providing affordable rentals through the Metro Vancouver Housing Corporation.

Each year, the Metro Vancouver board of directors elect a chair and vice chair for the following one-year term.

Buchanan is slated to be paid $39,666 for the term, according to Metro Vancouver’s website.

Metro Vancouver directors are elected officials who represent 21 municipalities, one treaty First Nation, and one electoral area, according to the release.
