City of North Van mayor elected Metro Vancouver vice chair

City of North Vancouver Mayor Linda Buchanan is set to serve as Metro Vancouver vice-chair for the next 12 months, following the regional body’s election Friday.

City of North Vancouver Mayor Linda Buchanan is set to serve as Metro Vancouver vice-chair for the next 12 months, following the regional body’s election Friday.

Along with Burnaby councillor and newly elected Metro chair Sav Dhaliwal, Buchanan will be charged with overseeing issues related to drinking water, sewage and drainage for the regional authority.

The position also includes providing affordable rentals through the Metro Vancouver Housing Corporation.

Buchanan is slated to be paid $38,737 for the one-year term.

Metro Vancouver represents 21 municipalities, one treaty First Nation and one electoral area.
