Point Roberts forward selected by Penguins in NHL Draft

Lukas Svejkovsky is a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The 18-year-old Point Roberts native was selected in the fourth round (108th overall) in Wednesday’s NHL Entry Draft. The 5-foot-10 165-pound forward split last season between Vancouver and Medicine Hat of the Western Hockey League, finishing the campaign with 18 goals and 20 assists in 52 games.

Although born in the US, Svejkovsky spent his entire youth career in BC including three seasons with the Delta Hockey Academy’s U15 and U16 Elite teams. He then joined the BC Hockey League’s Wenatchee Wild of the BC Hockey League where he managed 11 points in 16 games as a 16-year-old.

His father is former NHLer Yogi Svejkovsky who is now a highly-respected skills coach who is currently guiding the DHA’s U17 Prep team and also serves as director of coaching development.
