Five golden rings! Hannah Haughn ends historic UBC career

North Van field hockey player wins fifth national title, earns MVP award

North Vancouver’s Hannah Haughn capped off a remarkable career with the UBC Thunderbirds last month by claiming MVP honours at the CIS-Field Hockey Canada Women’s Field Hockey Championships held in Toronto.

Haughn was instrumental in guiding the Thunderbirds into the final where they topped Victoria in a shootout, giving UBC their sixth-straight McCrae Cup national championship. The win also gave Haughn her fifth national title in five tries, making her and teammate Gabby Jayme just the second and third CIS athletes to ever win five women’s field hockey national titles.

Haughn, a Handsworth grad, is also a mainstay on the Canadian national field hockey team, having already racked up 118 caps in her young career.
