PlayNow.com is offering odds on which B.C. hospital will have the first birth of 2021.

If you have some inside knowledge on someone’s due date, you might want to have a little bet on the baby being the first to arrive in 2021.

New Westminster’s Royal Columbian Hospital was home to the first babies of both 2019 and 2020.

B.C. gamblers can go to PlayNow.com to place their bets on which of the province’s hospital welcomes the first baby born in the New Year.

Richmond Hospital is at generous odds of 7.5/1, with Royal Columbian in New Westminster at 4/1, having held the distinction for the last two years.

This year, the favourites are B.C. Women’s Hospital (3/1) – which was home to the first B.C. baby born in 2017 – and Surrey Memorial Hospital (3/1), which welcomed the first B.C. baby of 2018, a mere nine seconds into the New Year.

Even though the Lower Mainland is home to the majority of betting favourites among B.C. hospitals, others in various parts of the province could pull off a surprise, with Fort St. John Hospital (40/1), Penticton Regional Hospital (45/1) and Cowichan District Hospital (50/1) all have big payout potential.

Wagering for which hospital will welcome the first B.C. baby of 2021 will be available on PlayNow.com until 9 a.m. on Dec. 30.
