Richmond school trustee Ken Hamaguchi plans to run in the yet-to-be announced by-election for Richmond council.

The by-election to replace former councillor Kelly Greene, elected to the provincial legislature in October, is expected some time in the spring.

Hamaguchi stepped away from the school board chair position on Wednesday and was replaced by Sandra Nixon who has been serving as vice-chair.

Hamaguchi is serving his second term on the board of education and was the chair for the past two years.

Hamaguchi runs a private consulting service, working with children with autism. He is also involved in local minor hockey.
