Poll result: Long wait times dampening Richmondites' travel plans

We asked readers how they felt about the long lines and extended wait times at the airport.

The thought of lining up is causing some readers to reconsider their travel plans.

Summer is here and many are ready to catch up on all the travelling they've missed over the past two years, but long lines and wait times at the airport might be stopping them.

As YVR and other airports continue to grapple with delays due to staffing shortages, increased volumes, and other factors, 44 per cent of Richmond News readers said that the long waits are stopping them from travelling.

The waiting game starts even earlier for some, and the long wait times at Service Canada have inspired some Vancouverites to take up side hustles.

Meanwhile, 19 per cent of readers are determined to go ahead with their plans, and almost 30 per cent of readers are not planning to travel at all.

Richmond News polled 1145 Richmond News readers and asked the question: Does long line-ups or wait times at the airport stop you from travelling?

The poll ran from 5/10/2022 to 6/2/2022. Of the 1145 votes, we can determine that 249 are from within the community. The full results are as follows:
