New development proposed for Main Street in Little Mountain neighbourhood

It's proposed for the intersection of East 24 and Main.

A new development has been proposed for the Little Mountain (aka Riley Park) neighbourhood.

The new building would be a six-storey mixed-use structure replacing several buildings at the intersection of Main St and East 24 Ave. The proposal shows 60 new rental units along with commercial space at street level on the northeast corner of the intersection.

Currently, that's the home to a couple of structures (built in 1973 and 1947) housing things like community health centre, the Midwifery Group and Lucky's Books and Comics.

The new building would have room for three retail locations and a restaurant, according to designs submitted to the city.

Residential space would include 15 studios, 20 one-bedroom, 21 two-bedroom and four three-bedroom units with amenity space on the roof level. Parking for cars and bikes would be included.

The application is currently with the city. A virtual open house is planned from Oct. 25 to Nov. 14.
