Prince George emergency crews closed Highway 16 west near Beaverly for several hours as a result of a fatal single-vehicle collision on Feb. 26, 2021.

A single-vehicle collision west of Prince George this morning (Feb. 26) has claimed a man's life.

According to RCMP, the fatal incident took place before 9 a.m. on Highway 16, closing the stretch between Hooper Road and Carmel Drive for several hours.

Though the cause of the crash remains unknown, Mounties explain a full-size pick-up truck left the road and rolled to a rest on its roof.

When paramedics arrived on scene, they tried to revive the man, but was pronounced dead shortly after.

The BC Coroners Service has since begun their own investigation in determining the cause of death, while police determine the cause of the crash.

Highway 16 has since re-opened in both directions after roughly two hours of single-lane alternating.

Police are thanking the public who stopped to help and the Beaverly Volunteer Fire Department.
