Port Coquitlam resident Chad Matty won $500,000 playing Daily Grand's Aug. 4, 2022, national draw after purchasing a ticket online.

It took some convincing, but the feeling of winning big has now sunk in for Chad Matty.

In fact, the Port Coquitlam resident also had to double-check after telling his spouse they were $500,000 richer from the Daily Grand draw on Aug. 4.

"My wife asked me if it was a scam and once she knew it wasn’t we were both very excited," he said in a release today (Aug. 22) from the BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC), noting he was at home when he found out he won.

Matty matched all four Extra numbers to earn the half-million-dollar payday from Daily Grand:

  • 21, 23, 49 and 83

Matty bought his ticket online through BCLC's PlayNow.com.

"When I first found out I won, I didn’t believe it," he added. "It's hard to believe it’s real until you have the money in hand."

Matty was also the second Tri-Cities resident in as many weeks to take home a $500,000 lottery victory.

Mohammad Golchehreh of Coquitlam won the same amount from Lotto 6/49's draw on July 20 after correctly picking all four of its Extra numbers.

He bought his ticket in Burnaby at the Save-On-Foods' location near the intersection of Market Crossing and Marine Way.

Daily Grand is a nationwide lottery game with jackpots drawn every Monday and Thursday.

The top prize is $1,000 a day for life, while the secondary winner gets $25,000 a year for life, should they correctly guess the numbers.

To date, the game has garnered more than $4.7 million in winnings by B.C. players in 2022.
