"Hope we 'poisoned' you with the excellent food and got you addicted."

One of Vancouver's most unusual menus is disappearing.

It's been just about five years since the Weirdo Cafe opened in East Vancouver, but the owners are deciding to shut the eclectic eatery's doors.

Opened in late 2018, the Weirdo Cafe specialized in a mix of Japanese and fusion foods, including items like "Crazy Beef on Rice," "Evil Castle Risotto," and "Blueberry Yogurt Pork Chop Spaghetti." They also had diverse drinks and dessert menus.

They made the announcement this weekend online, stating that they'll be open for another week before closing permanently.

"Hi Weirdos, we would like to say goodbye and thank you for your support throughout these years," reads the statement.

They note that the COVID-19 pandemic impacted them at a bad time as a young restaurant, introducing more issues.

After a "long break" they suggest they may decide to come back in some form.

"Thanks for the support, again," they write. "Hope we 'poisoned' you with the excellent food and got you addicted."

Weirdo Cafe's last day at 6459 Victoria Dr. is March 26. For those hoping to say a last goodbye, they suggest a reservation.
