The number of COVID-19 cases detected in Richmond was down somewhat from last week – 171 cases were found between April 23 and 29, down from 253 the previous week.
The data was released by the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) on Friday afternoon.
The number of people at Richmond Hospital with coronavirus, however, has remained the same as it was last week, with 18 in total, nine in the COVID-19 unit and nine in the intensive care unit, according to data from Vancouver Coastal Health on Thursday.
Non-elective surgeries have been paused for two weeks at the Richmond Hospital to ensure enough staffing for COVID-19 cases.
The number of COVID-19 daily cases in Richmond is between 10 and 20 per 100,000 population – this compares to neighbouring Vancouver and the North Shore.
However, Fraser Valley South continues to have high numbers with more than 30 cases per day detected per 100,000 population.
There have been a total of 3,640 cases of COVID-19 in Richmond since the beginning of the pandemic.
