Here's how to commemorate Remembrance Day 2021 on Nov. 11.

Canadian veterans standing out in the cold on Nov. 11 to honour fallen comrades can warm up with a free cuppa joe.

This week, Starbucks Canada announced it is providing free tall (354 mL) hot brewed coffees to anyone identifying as a veteran, as well as a current-serving member of the Canadian Armed Forces — or military spouses — on Remembrance Day.

In addition, Starbucks is helping to raise funds for the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund.

Patrons can provide donations via the Starbucks app, dedicating a digital poppy in memory of a veteran, or donate to the poppy fund at the counter when they visit a Starbucks coffee shop.

The efforts are among dozens of commemorative projects around the Tri-Cities, including painting poppies in Coquitlam, purchasing a wreath or a poppy and displaying the poppy that will be published in the Tri-City News Thursday (Nov. 4).

Public events are not being conducted at local cenotaphs although people can place a poppy at the memorial.
