As of April 8, Bowen Island seniors born in 1956 or earlier are eligible to register to book a vaccination appointment through Vancouver Coastal Health.

Also eligible are Indigenous people 18 and over and people who are clinically extremely vulnerable (if you are in the latter category, you'll receive a patient invitation letter.)

One can register and book an appointment online or call 1-833-838-2323 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Bowen Island's next vaccine clinic is April 10 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Seniors 65 and over in Richmond, Vancouver, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Lions Bay, Sunshine Coast, Powell River, Whistler, Squamish and Pemberton are too now eligible to register to book a vaccine appointment.

Some Bowen Islanders in the new cohort reported being told they're not eligible for an appointment yet, however others report having been contacted after registering and given an appointment, though not necessarily on-island.

The three steps of the Get Vaccinated program are: to register when your age cohort becomes eligible and get a confirmation code; book an appointment when you get an email, text or phone call telling you you are eligible to book; and finally get vaccinated.

This is a separate track from the pharmacy dispensed AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD vaccine, which is only available for people between the ages of 55 and 65.
