Beer, food trucks and music... ingredients for a popular festival expanding to Port Moody

Welcome to Brewhalla, a soon-to-be summer haven for Tri-City residents with local ales on tap.

There is a place this summer where, when the sun hits, may feel like the most perfect place on Earth for local beer lovers.

It's called Brewhalla.

The Tri-Cities will soon be treated to the senses of this haven when the popular festival expands later this year, complete with craft beer, food trucks, lawn games and live musicians.

Red Door Events Inc. announced this week its adding two new Brewhalla events later this year, including a stop at Pioneer Memorial Park in Port Moody as well as The Shipyards in North Vancouver.

The company is the operators of the Fort Langley Beer and Music Festival.

In a release to the Tri-City News, spokesperson Lies Reimer says the goal is to showcase as many local breweries as possible and provide opportunities to local artists, while "bringing people together in meaningful ways, building our communities and supporting local charities."

"Our new Brewhalla Beer and Music festival series will do just that in even more communities throughout B.C.," Reimer adds, noting the event also encourages diversity, inclusion and sustainability.

In Port Moody, Brewhalla is set to feature more than 60 craft beers from places as close as the renowned Brewers Row and eight local musicians are set to take the stage.

The line-up of participants is still being planned by organizers, as of this publication (April 10).

Brewhalla at Pioneer Memorial Park — located at 275 Knowle St. next to the Port Moody Recreation Complex — is scheduled for Aug. 5 and 6 from 4 to 9 p.m. and noon to 5 p.m. respectively.

Its other two stops are as follows:

  • Fort Langley
    • Fort Langley Park on May 21 (12:30 to 6 p.m.)
  • North Vancouver
    • The Shipyards on Sept. 30 (4 to 9 p.m.)

Interested patrons must be 19 years and older.
