Who says you can’t look cool while protecting yourself and others?
Many people added masks to their wardrobes due to the pandemic. To make wearing masks more fun for children of all ages, a Richmond-based designer has turned face masks into an art project by launching personalized masks imprinted with cute monster cartoons.
Now, each cloth mask is selling for $30 online and all proceeds will go toward the Richmond Hospital Foundation for building the new acute tower.
“The thought of making mask-wearing a more enjoyable experience for kids came to me in March, and the desire to convert the idea into reality became stronger after receiving positive feedback from my students,” said Jianjun An, a senior instructor with NPC College of Art and Design in Richmond.
Later, An spent several weeks collaborating with students to work on this mask project.
“This kind of design might create a sense of reverence, which allows children to naturally keep social-distancing from others,” explained An.
“Most importantly, this project has helped develop a sense of social responsibility for my students.”
