We're Lusting Over this Artist-Inspired Perfume

French Rococo artist Jean-Honore Fragonard was known for his exuberant, hedonistic (and downright erotic) paintings, which were the topic of our brunch conversation this past Saturday.

French Rococo artist Jean-Honore Fragonard was known for his exuberant, hedonistic (and downright erotic) paintings, which were the topic of our brunch conversation this past Saturday. So we were delighted to serendipitously stumble across a shelf lined with goods from the prolific French parfumerie (named after the painter) while browsing a Gastown shop, Orling and Wu, later that afternoon.

Jean Honore Fragonard

Since 1926, the French House of Fragonard has been creating perfume for women and men, and more recently soaps and shower gels, and home scents including candles and diffuser oils.

Many of the scents have floral and musk notes, providing an alluring aura, and the products come encassed in packaging adorned with intricate floral prints, a nod to the French painter's dreamy canvases.

We were especially partial to the Rose Ambre (above) with its warm head notes of bergamont and blackcurrant, heart note of rose and almonds, and base note of patchouli, amber, tonka bean and vanilla. This fuschia bottle is now proudly displayed on our boudoir table.
