Dinner on the Pier 2019, Burrard Dry Dock Pier, North Vancouver, Wednesday, Aug. 7, 6:30 p.m.

Dinner on the Pier returns for its fifth season on the North Vancouver waterfront Aug. 7.

The event, co-founded by longtime friends, Alex Troll and Adriana Koc-Spadaro, brings into focus all that is special about Lower Lonsdale.

“When it started the idea was to get all the businesses together and just highlight the changes that were happening,” says Troll. “It’s now grown into this community initiative where we choose a charity every year and highlight small businesses in the area.”

In the first year Dinner on the Pier had 150 guests and that has now doubled to 300.

“Every year more people want to be involved,” says Troll. "It’s grown into a showcase of what the area can offer.”

The evening starts off at the Pipe Shop and then moves over to the Pier for the sit-down dinner.

“Quay Properties, one of our sponsors, provide us with the Pipe Shop space,” says Troll. “We highlight a lot of the local businesses and also feature the charity in the Pipe Shop. This year it’s Wish Vancouver (wish-vancouver.net) and we are hoping to raise $5,000.”

Other sponsors for Dinner on the Pier include Hollyburn Properties, Musos Entertainment, Pinnacle at the Pier, Larry’s Market, Earnest Ice Cream and Beere Brewing.

Pinnacle executive chef Joel Green has been involved with the food preparation from the start.

“He’s designed the four-course dinners for all five years,” says Troll. “Every year he tries to up himself. He challenges himself and it’s cool to watch.”

YouTuber and social media personality Breanne Williamson will host the evening.

“To say she is North Vancouver-obsessed is an understatement,” says Troll. “She works in ‘the best place in the world,’ as a local real estate agent and takes pride in not only selling homes but everything the incredible community has to offer. In her spare time, Breanne Williamson has built up an impressive social media following creating content as a YouTube and Instagram personality, hosting a weekly podcast, and working hard to create social change as a 2SLGBTQ+ advocate. She’s really funny.”
