This year celebrate Mother’s Day with a well-deserved brunch that your mom will appreciate.

In order to get the table ready there are some details that you may want to plan ahead for.

It’s always nice to pick a colour theme. Pink and white, or yellow and white, are good choices as they go with many different flowers.

Set your table with white napkins and candles and add some colourful flowers down the centre of the table. Fill a teapot with tulips and place in the center of your table.

Pre-mix some of your drinks ahead of time. A nice idea is making either pink or yellow lemonade. Scatter some lemons in and amongst the flowers and candles. If you really want to impress your guests, then freeze some edible flowers, such as pansies, into your ice cube tray the night before. Pop them into a clear water jug and set it on the table.

Another classy idea is to prepare a yogurt bar. Set up an area on a side table or end of the buffet table with a few different types of yogurt.

Place an assortment of nuts and fruit in individual containers around the yogurt. Be sure to have some pretty dishware for guests to serve themselves.

Fruit kabobs are also always a hit. You can make them the day before and display them on a pretty white platter the day of the brunch.

Insert pieces of strawberries, kiwi, bananas, melon and pineapple on barbecue skewers.

If you are planning to have a sit down brunch and you are looking for an idea for place cards then you may want to try this idea.

Individual roses can be purchased at your local grocery store. Snip the stem down to approximately 10 centimetres and wrap the single rose in brown paper in the shape of a cone.

Attach a small nametag with raffia or ribbon to the cone and lay the name card on each attendee’s plate.
