Tyler Shaw of Coquitlam was nominated for two Junos in 2023.

Tyler Shaw may have lost in his Juno category to Burnaby crooner Michael Bublé over the weekend.

But he’s up tonight (March 13) for a Fan Choice Award at the national music ceremony in Edmonton.

Shaw, a Coquitlam resident and graduate of Riverside Secondary School in Port Coquitlam, faces nine competitors for the TikTok Juno Fan Choice accolade:

  • Avril Lavigne
  • Lauren Spencer Smith
  • Mackenzie Porter
  • Preston Pablo
  • Reve
  • Shawn Mendes
  • Tate McRae
  • The Reklaws
  • The Weeknd

Last February, Shaw came out with his rendition of GAYLE’s hit “abcdefu” called “Love You Still (abcdefu romanic version).”

Since then, his tune and video have gained more than 2.5 billion views on social media platforms.

For the Contemporary Album of the Year category, which was announced last Saturday (March 11), Shaw’s work, A Tyler Shaw Christmas, was up against Bublé’s Higher, as well as Jann Arden's Descendant; Francois Klark's Adventure Book, and March Jordan and Amy Sky's He Sang She Sang.

The Juno nominations are not the first for Shaw, a Sony recording artist: In 2019, he was up for Pop Album of the Year for Intuition and, in 2014, he was a finalist for Breakthrough Artist of the Year.

Shaw dropped his third studio album in 2021; it features the hit “Remember.” In the past, he has toured with Shawn Mendes, Alessia Cara and Selena Gomez.

Hosted by actor Simu Liu, the Junos will see Nickelback inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. The 52nd annual Juno Awards begin at 5 p.m. via CBC.
