It’s election day, and polls are open across the North Shore for voters in North Vancouver and West Vancouver.
Polls opened at 7 a.m. today on the west coast and will close at 7 p.m.
(Every poll across the country is open for 12 hours on election day, but the hours are staggered so polls in different parts of the country open and close at slightly different times.)
Voters can find the location of their polling station by checking their voter ID cards.
Those who aren’t registered or don’t have a card can find their polling station by checking online at elections.ca
Electors must also bring accepted ID to prove their identity and address.
Voters without accepted ID, can still by signing a solemn declaration and having someone who is assigned to their polling station vouch for them.
Electors must be 18 and be Canadian citizens in order to vote.
In Burnaby North–Seymour, about 17 per cent of voters have already cast ballots in the advance polls.
Races in all three North Shore ridings are expected to be close.
