Jake's Gift honours veterans at Presentation House Theatre

Julia Mackey's award-winning play opens on Remembrance Day
Jake's Gift
Jake’s Gift, starring Julia Mackey, opens Nov. 11 at Presentation House Theatre.

Jake’s Gift, Julia Mackey’s “love letter of thanks to all our veterans” returns to North Vancouver on Remembrance Day for a week-long run at Presentation House Theatre.

The “multi-award winning drama tells the story of a Canadian Second World War veteran’s reluctant return to Normandy, France, to find the grave of the brother who never came home. While revisiting the shores of Juno Beach, Jake encounters Isabelle, a precocious 10-year-old from the local village. Isabelle’s inquisitive nature and charm challenge the old soldier to confront some long-ignored ghosts – most notably, the war-time death of his eldest brother, Chester, a once promising young musician. At its heart, Jake’s Gift is about the legacy of remembrance and makes personal the story behind one soldier’s grave.”

Jake’s Gift runs Nov. 11 – 17 at the following times: Monday, Nov. 11 - 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13 - 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15 - 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16 - 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 17 - 1:00 p.m.Ticket Prices: $30 / $25 / $18.
