Vancouver-born electronica musician Tim Hecker released a new album on Sept. 28, Konoyo, recorded with the help of the gagaku ensemble Tokyo Gakuso.

He unveiled the new music in a live show in Tokyo on Oct. 2 and continues this week with a series of gigs in London, Krakow and Berlin, featuring members of Tokyo Gakuso and Kara-Lis Coverdale.

Konoyo (“the world over here”), Hecker’s ninth studio album is available on Kranky/Sunblind Music. "This Life," the opening track, introduces listeners to a brilliant collection of elegant, ambient soundscapes.

Hecker’s PhD thesis on urban noise, The era of megaphonics: on the productivity of loud sound, 1880-1930, completed at McGill University in 2014, is available to read online.
