In the fall of 1965, Chicago bluesman Buddy Guy went on a European tour of the U.K.,  France and Germany, American Folk Blues Festival ’65, with a lineup that included Fred McDowell, Big Mama Thornton, Big Walter “Shakey” Horton, Lonesome Jimmy Lee, Freddie Below, Eddie Boyd and John Lee Hooker.

The tours, arranged by the Lippmann + Rau concert agency, were organized annually from 1962 through 1972, with help from “booking agent” Willie Dixon in the States.

Buddy Guy taped his cover of James Brown’s song “Out of Sight,” with Fred Below on drums, in a German TV studio during the tour.
