The Cinematheque begins a major retrospective of filmmaker Nicolas Roeg on Saturday, Feb. 17. Opening night of Out There: The Visionary Cinema of Nicolas Roeg begins with Don’t Look Now at 6:30 p.m. and The Man Who Fell to Earth at 8:45 p.m. “Already a distinguished cinematographer when he became a director — he shot, among others, Truffaut’s Fahrenheit 451 (1966) and Richard Lester’s Petulia (1968) — Roeg cemented his reputation with four sequential masterworks — Performance (1970, with co-director Donald Cammell), Walkabout (1971), Don’t Look Now (1973), and The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976).”

Michelle Zauner (Japanese Breakfast), performs on a bill with Jay Som (Melina Duterte) at the Biltmore Cabaret tonight. Both artists are guest DJs on NPR this week “Love Songs With Jay Som and Japanese Breakfast.”

VANCOUVER: NO FIXED ADDRESS
North Vancouver filmmaker Charles Wilkinson screens his work, Vancouver: No Fixed Address, tonight at Vancity Theatre at 5:30 p.m. as part of the KDocs Documentary Film Festival. The fest, put together by Kwantlen Polytechnic University, runs through this weekend. Tonight’s screening will feature a Keynote by social activist Jean Swanson, plus post-screening panel discussion.

TROKER
Mexican “psychedelic jazz” band Troker play a live Tiny Desk Concert for NPR on May 26, 2017. Tracks include “Principe Charro”, “Chapala Blues”, “Tequila Death” and “One Thousand Million Eyes” (featuring vocalist Solange Prat). Troker plays the Rickshaw Theatre on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 8 p.m. in a co-presentation with Cap Jazz and the Chutzpah! Festival.

LAURIE ANDERSON AND KRONOS QUARTET
"CNN Predicts a Monster Storm" from new album, Landfall, out now on Nonesuch Records. Anderson performs All the Things I Lost in the Flood at UBC's Chan Centre Feb. 23.

BELLE GAME
"Yuh." Currently completing their sophomore effort for Arts & Crafts the band, featuring vocalist Andrea Lo, plays the Imperial on Feb. 23.
