Rose Cousins, The Media Club, Monday, Nov. 12 Doors 7:30 p.m., Tickets $15 advance, available at rose.bpt.me.
On a long weekend where two Canadian music legends (Neil Young and Leonard Cohen) are scheduled to perform in Vancouver on successive nights it would be a shame if Halifax singer/songwriter Rose Cousins gets lost in the shuffle. Shes booked to play the Media Club on Monday, Nov. 12, the same night the iconic Cohen is slated for Rogers Arena.
Cousins latest album, We Have Made A Spark, is nothing short of sublime and was justly nominated earlier this year for the Polaris Music Prize as Best Canadian Album. It didnt win but got lots of votes and is surely one of the best records made in Canada over the past decade let alone the past year. Think Joni Mitchells Blue or any one of Cohens poetic manifestos Spark matches those Canadian classics in its compositional rigour and intense performances.
