U.K. indie band, Comet Gain, paid titular tribute to Marco Bellocchio’s 1965 directorial debut Fists in the Pocket/ I pugni in tasca, in a video for the opening track from their 2005 album, City Fallen Leaves, on Track & Field / Kill Rock Stars.

 

 

Bellochio’s film is screening at Vancity Theatre on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 9 p.m. and Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 2:30 p.m. as part of the 2019 Italian Film Festival (viff.org).

The festival, co-presented by VIFF, Vancity Theatre and the Italian Cultural Centre with support from the Italian Consul, kicks off tonight at 6 p.m. with the North American premiere of Paolo Zucca’s The Man Who Bought the Moon. The week-long festival features a mix of new Italian cinema, documentary and established classics, including work by masters like Fellini (Giulietta degli spiriti), De Sica (Umberto D), and Bertolucci (Il Conformista) as well as Cinecittà Babilonia: Sesso, Droga & Camicie Nere, Marco Spagnoli’s Felliniesque take on the early history Cinecittà, the hub of the Italian film industry.

Comet Gain released a new 7” single in Oct., 2018, on Tapete Records, “If Not Tomorrow”/ “I Was More Of A Mess Then,” with the promise of more songs to come in 2019.
