Alfonso Cuarón - “Roma” (Track of the Day)

Alfonso Cuarón’s semi-autobiographical film Roma, about growing up in Mexico City in the 1970s premieres this weekend at the Whistler Film Festival prior to its release on Netflix and in theatres on Dec. 14.

Sound editor Sergio Diaz spent a lot of time talking with the filmmaker about his memories of the Roma neighbourhood in order to create a soundscape for the work.

As year-end lists start coming out Time magazine and the New York Film Critics Circle have already named Roma the best film of 2018, and the National Board of Review has it as one of the top ten best films of 2018. Roma also won the Golden Lion at the Venice International Film Festival.
