They couldn’t get together for a full group shot, but Ms. Lyric’s Grade 7 class at West Vancouver’s Caulfeild Elementary will still have a cool class photo to take with them as they head off to high school.
With COVID-19 restrictions preventing the class from gathering for a photo, teacher Jessica Lyric decided to go virtual this year. She tasked all of her students with creating a Bitmoji of themselves and sending it to her. Lyric then spent hours sizing the student creations and fitting them together into a digital class photo, complete with school mascot and the ubiquitous brick background of photo day lore.
“It was just something I wanted to do as this was my first year as a generalist after many years teaching high school,” Lyric told the North Shore News. “I was sad that we were all going to miss out on the experience of a whole class photo.”
The project was a labour of love, says Lyric.
“It took a few weeks to gather them all and many hours of resizing images, but I’m really happy with it!” she said.
Here is the class photo for @CaulfeildSchool Division 2 Grade 7's! I've had a great year with these students and I wish them all the best of luck next year in secondary! #bethebear @WestVanSchools pic.twitter.com/4Vy3lkdVy1
