Persian community celebrates new year in West Vancouver

Ambleside Park was awash with people Tuesday night evening as the Persian community celebrated the beginning of the new year, also known as Norouz.

Ambleside Park was awash with people Tuesday night evening as the Persian community celebrated the beginning of the new year, also known as Norouz.

The annual Persian New Year celebration in West Vancouver included live music, fire jumping, food and dance performances.

The event is based on Persian New Year traditions regarding the last Wednesday of the Persian calendar, also known as Chaharshanbe Suri.
