Sherwood Park Elementary students were among the large number of British Columbians who took part in the ShakeoutBC earthquake drill today (Oct. 18) at exactly 10:18 a.m.

The event is practised all over the world ever year, at the same time and on the same day, encouraging people to try out dropping, covering and holding on in the event that an earthquake were to hit.

Participating is a great way for families, organizations and schools to be prepared to survive and recover quickly from big earthquakes, wherever they happen to live, work or travel, according to the ShakeoutBC website.
