These soaring rapids are an awe-inspiring sight to behold.

While it may come as a surprise to some people, British Columbia is home the tallest waterfall in Canada.

Located in Strathcona Provincial Park on Vancouver Island, Della Falls has the greatest vertical drop of any waterfall in the country. Although a couple of waterfalls in the province are considered to be higher, Della Falls has the greatest total drop. According to The Canadian Encyclopedia, the falls crash 440 metres, or 1140 feet, straight down.

These soaring rapids are an awe-inspiring sight to behold, however, they are somewhat difficult to reach. Hikers will either have to boat across Great Central Lake or take a helicopter in order to view them up close. With that being said, if you prepare in advance, or plan to take a shuttle, the falls make a spectacular destination.

Have a look at some photos of the breathtaking Della Falls.
