Brooksbank throws birthday bash for green thumb

Gerry MacPherson and his wife Molly were the guests of honour at Gerry’s 99th birthday party thrown for him by the students and staff at Brooksbank Elementary on Feb. 4.

The nonagenarian with a green thumb became a celebrated figure in the Brooksbank community after he transformed an unruly, overgrown space adjacent to the school and Loutet Park into a beautiful garden – Gerry’s Garden – and filled it to the brim with blooms, benches and walkways for everyone to enjoy.
