With the Little Mountain Brass Band’s 25th anniversary this year, the group is set to celebrate the occasion with the music of Handel, John Williams, and Holst at an afternoon concert set for Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Seymour United Church. Admission by donation.

If you’re ready to get into the charitable mood this season, the West Vancouver Emergency services Gift Drive is on now. From now until Dec. 13, the West Vancouver Police Department and West Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services are collecting new, unwrapped toys and non-perishable food items for delivery to the Family Services Christmas Bureau of the North Shore. There’s a new exhibit on now at North Vancouver Museum and Archives which mixes cold facts with warm memories. In Women & Wartime: Defending North Vancouver 1939-1945, the way in which people's lives in North Vancouver were impacted during the Second World War is examined. The exhibit can be seen at the North Vancouver Museum and Archives on Institute Road between noon and 5 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Egyptian artist Wael Shawky’s experimental Al Araba Al Madfuna film series is now showing at Polygon Gallery. Shawky’s multilayered film looks at the ways in which history and mythologies are recorded, highlighting the fallibility of cultural memory. You can visit the by-donation exhibition tomorrow and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Capilano Suspension Bridge will once again be turned into a winter wonderland as the annual Canyon Lights event kicks off today. From 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. starting now until the end of January, you’ll be able to experience the excitement of the holiday season be taking in hundreds of thousands of lights throughout the park.
