On the longest night of the year, find yourself some comfort and joy with Yalda: A Winter Solstice Concert taking place at Capilano University’s BlueShore Financial Centre for the Performing Arts tomorrow at 8 p.m. The concert, put on by the Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra, will feature an evening of chamber music for voice and intercultural strings inspired by Persian, Chinese, Japanese, Hebrew and other world music traditions. Tickets are $25-$35.

The Creber family and other musical guests are wanting to give A Carpenters’ Christmas tomorrow at Kay Meek Centre at 7:30 p.m. Michelle, Michael and Monique Creber will pay tribute to the music of the Carpenters in a special Christmas concert celebrating the famed brother-sister duo’s holiday albums. Tickets are $15-$48.

The British Columbia Boys Choir is celebrating 50 years with a holiday concert called Celebrating Tradition that includes current and past singers and conductors showing tomorrow at West Vancouver United Church at 7 p.m. There will be a pre-concert reception at 6 p.m. Tickets range from $30-$50.

It’s Santa on ice. Come and get your skate on with Santa, Mrs. Claus and their festive elves tomorrow at Harry Jerome rec centre from 1 to 3 p.m. There are even rumours that Frosty the Snowman might come for a visit.

This is your last weekend to pay a visit to an iconic local Santa before he leaves the North Shore for good. For 22 years, Capilano Mall has had the same Santa Claus who has set up his workshop every year and brightened up the holidays for scores of little boys and girls (and parents). This Sunday at about 5 p.m. he’ll walk out of his workshop for the last time.
