North Shore breweries are inviting hop heads to come check out their spaces, try special casks and attend fun events, including a launch party taking place tonight at The Pipe Shop starting at 5:30 p.m., with live music, food trucks, five North Shore breweries and a few “coming soon” North Vancouver breweries pouring your favourite beers.

As North Shore voters get set to cast ballots this weekend, a play showing at Deep Cove Shaw Theatre is paying homage to the story of when many women were first were able to cast votes 100 years ago. Rebel Women, a historical drama written by Joan Bryans and directed by Sarah Arnold, examines the militant leg of the suffragette movement in early 20th century Britain, and is running until Oct. 27, with shows tonight and tomorrow at 8 p.m. ($18-$20). The play is described as a “theatre verbatim play,” meaning that almost all the dialogue in the production is culled from the actual words – from speeches, letters and even songs – uttered by individuals in the women’s movement.
