The 44th president of the United States will be in the city March 5 for a special event — A Conversation with President Barack Obama — hosted by the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade.

“At this moment in history, President Obama is quite possibly the most coveted speaker in the world,” Lori Mathison, board chair, said in a press release. “Repeatedly, his name has topped our member surveys as the individual that B.C. business leaders most want to hear from… we are ecstatic to welcome President Obama to our city on March 5.”

“It is an hour for our organization to host one of the most respected world leaders in recent history, in light of his lifelong dedication to principles diplomacy and creating a more equal society,” added Iain Black, president and CEO of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade.

Michelle Obama is also heading to Vancouver for an event later in March. The former first lady’s speaking tour, Becoming: An Intimate Conversation with Michelle Obama, is making a stop at Rogers Arena on March 21.

And Bill and Hillary Clinton will bring their speaking tour, An Evening with President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, to Vancouver May 2.
