Canada is a big country and one of the best ways to see it is in a car. Here are five of the best Canadian road trips that will help you see the best that this country has to offer.
<strong>5. Icefields Parkway</strong><br/></br/>
Also known as Highway 93, this 230-km route cuts through Banff National Park and Jasper National park between Lake Louise and Jasper. To say that the Rocky Mountain scenery is jaw-dropping doesn't begin to describe the beauty of this road. It can get crowded in summer and traffic can slow to a halt, especially when someone spots an animal like a bear or moose and everyone stops to look.
<strong>3. Cabot Trail</strong><br/></br/>
A 298 km loop around the northern tip of Nova Scotia's Cape Breton Island comprises the Cabot Trail. It passes along the gorgeous Cape Breton Highlands. It's best to drive the loop in a counter-clockwise direction so that you can better appreciate the ocean views.
<strong>2. Sea to Sky Highway</strong><br/></br/>
The Sea to Sky Highway got a lot of attention during the 2010 Winter Olympics as it was the primary route from the city of Vancouver to Whistler, where many of the mountain events took place. It's a gorgeous trip any time of year and is often cited in lists of the world's greatest road trips.
<strong>1. Trans-Canada Highway</strong><br/></br/>
The ultimate Canadian road trip is the 8,030 km journey from coast to coast. Starting in Victoria, B.C and ending in St. John's, Newfoundland, the Trans-Canada, or Tee-Can as it is often called, is one of the world's longest highways. It will take you past mountains, prairie fields, Great Lakes, forests, marshes, cities and more scenery than you can handle.
