Once known mainly as the industrial and service hub of the
Howe Sound corridor, Squamish -- with its spectacular setting -- has
emerged as a recreation destination in its own right.

VIDEO: This month we took another cruise via B.C. Ferries to Vancouver Island where we stayed in Parksville and played the Fairwinds Golf Course at nearby Nanoose Bay. In a spring of inconsistent weather, we scored sunshine and made the most of it.
On Friday May 21, over 140 golfers and guests gathered at North Vancouver's Seymour Golf and Country Club for the third annual North Shore Mayors' Golf Tournament.
You arrange your foursome, book your time, show up, and play. Yet a day of golf can also be an adventure and, if you do a little planning, you don't have to travel far to get in a memorable round that's really out of the ordinary.
Since people first began to gather in tribes and villages, once the cupboard was full, thoughts would turn to filling the idle hours between hunting and gathering and running in terror from sabre-toothed tigers.
Fascination with the new and different is ingrained in the human psyche. Business empires rise and fall on their ability to lure consumers with "new" and "improved" products and services.
Over time, the greenery settles in and as players and management have a chance to see how it all unfolds, tweaks and adjustments can be made to enhance the experience for golfers of all levels.
On Friday, May 22, North Vancouver City Mayor Darrell Mussatto, North Vancouver District Mayor Richard Walton and West vancouver District Mayor Pam Goldsmith-Jones will come together once again at the Seymour Golf and Country Club to host their second annual golf tournament.
