Overtime win gives Sockeyes the series against Wolf Pack

The scores were all close but the series tally was decisive as the Richmond Sockeyes topped the North Van Wolf Pack 4-1 in the opening round of the PJHL playoffs.

The scores were all close but the series tally was decisive as the Richmond Sockeyes topped the North Van Wolf Pack 4-1 in the opening round of the PJHL playoffs.

The Sockeyes struck the final blow in Richmond Thursday night, winning 5-4 in overtime to finish off the series. Arjun Badh scored 1:25 into the second overtime period to give the Sockeyes their third-straight one-goal win. Richmond’s Tyler Andrews was the star of the show, scoring a hat trick and assisting on the overtime winner. Andrews racked up 10 points in the five-game series.

Wolf Pack goalie Alex Forster was named the game’s second star, making 36 saves in the loss. North Van’s Nathan Haaksma, Caleb Holonko and Mitchell Ledyard shared the team lead with four points in the series.

Richmond will now move on to play the Delta Ice Hawks who finished first in the Tom Shaw Conference with a 37-4-0-3 record.
