Capilano claims bronze in women's soccer

Blues back on PacWest podium for first time since 2007

The Capilano Blues women claimed their first PacWest medal in nearly a decade on Saturday, knocking off the Langara Falcons in penalty kicks following a 1-1 tie in the provincial bronze game at Burnaby Lake Sports Complex West.

Taylor Einhorn scored Capilano’s lone goal – her second in two matches at the tournament – to give the Blues a 1-0 lead in the 39th minute but the Falcons replied in the second half to send the match into extra time. Capilano outlasted Langara in the shootout, earning their first medal since 2007.

The Vancouver Island Mariners claimed gold in this year’s PacWest women’s championship with a 1-0 win over Douglas. Einhorn, who was named a PacWest all-star following the regular season, added another piece for her 2016 trophy case, claiming the top forward award at the PacWest championships.
