Cultus Lake-based dragon boat team Sudden Impact Black ended their competitive season with a bang at Harrison Dragonfest this weekend, capturing first place in the Competitive A finals Saturday
The Harrison regatta is an important event for all Fraser Valley teams, and Sudden Impact Black defended their home waters from some very strong Vancouver teams, like Riptide and RGL. Impact Black pulled out all the stops in a nailbiter of a final, edging out Riptide by three hundredths of a second with a time of 2: 10.03 in the 500-metre race.
With a successful competitive season behind them, Sudden Impact captains Karmen Aulakh and Bruce Davidson have big plans for next season, and the team will continue to practise and train at Cultus Lake. For more information on how to get involved in dragonboating call 604858-2250.
