SENIOR boys soccer on the North Shore is heating up with playoff action just around the corner.
At the AAA level surprising West Vancouver has built a six-point lead atop the standings, scoring 17 out of a possible 18 points through their first six games as of Oct. 22. Handsworth and Sutherland are tied for second with 11 points although the Royals have played one fewer game. Argyle is close behind in fourth place with nine points while Carson Graham has yet to register a win.
West Van is locked into first place and will play the Burnaby/ New Westminster No. 1 seed for a provincial berth Nov. 6 at Burnaby Lakes. The rest of the AAA playoff action kicks off at 3: 30 p.m. on Oct. 30 when the third and fourth seeds will meet in a win-or-go home game at Sutherland.
On the AA side Sentinel sits in top spot with 19 points through eight games while Collingwood is in second with 15 points through seven games. Rockridge at 14 and St. Thomas Aquinas at 13 round out the top four. Playoff action in the AA league also begins Oct. 30 with the third-and fourth-place teams meeting at Ambleside D at 3 p.m.
