Summer may be coming to a close but a group of North Shore boys have one more win to remember during the long winter months.
A team of 12- and 13-year-olds took part in the Umbro Soccerwest Beach Soccer Blast on Spanish Banks in August and, although they opted to “play up” one age group from their regular season play, the boys went on to win the gold medal in their grouping.
The Beach Blast soccer tournament is a unique gathering of sun-seeking, sand-loving soccer players of all ages.
This is the second year for this team in the tournament and their second win. Lead by Coach Stuart Ince, the team battled the heat, fierce opponents and unforgiving sand fields to pull out four wins, including the championship final played Aug. 11.
North Shore players include Evan Ince, Gerardo Villavicencio, Willem Booth, Jake Ruby, Patrick Ainge and Declan Confortin.
