Dear Editor:

As we drove into the Dollarton Plaza for our morning Starbucks (on Saturday, April 22) we saw two young women standing in the parking lot looking around. They were there to meet a fellow who had found their lost dog. His name is Joe Groves.

The dog’s name is Benji but Joe and his family were calling him Prickles because when they found him crouched on the busy highway pinned against a barrier and tried to pick him up he jumped over the barrier and landed in the thick of brambles. Joe got him out of the brambles and got a lot of scratches too. They tried to find each other last night on social media but were finally able to connect this morning through the SPCA.

It was really a joyful reunion.

I think Joe was a bit of a local hero. He already had two dogs on a leash and had rescued this third little fella. The two girls were so happy.

I didn’t have my camera, so no pictures. Too bad!
