LETTER: No glee for political blame game

Dear Editor:

Re: Classical Gas, July 28 Viewpoint.

I’m one of those your editorial alludes to that “gleefully ... suggest the NDP must wear this.”

The only part of your editorial that I would take exception to is the “gleeful” part. There was no glee when I heard Petronas was bailing on the Prince Rupert project. I was actually disappointed – and pissed off, to be frank.

If you really choose to believe that the NDP’s open hostility toward the project had absolutely no bearing on Petronas’ decision, well then enjoy your orange and black Kool-Aid.

Only Petronas really knows why they canned the project. One thing for sure, though – there’s no upside to publicly blaming the new government, so the truth remains unknowable.

The NDP’s solution to every issue usually starts with raising the corporate tax, if they are actually asked how they plan to fund their various mega-government program ideas (something Keith Baldrey might want to consider doing).

They never state a specific amount, but let’s try one per cent of $11.4 billion. I don’t know, but maybe $114 million is significant? Just sayin’...

Stated without prejudice, or glee.
