Dear Editor:

Re: Province Grounds Lions Gate Climbing Business, Nov. 29 front-page story.

Thank-you to the North Shore News for keeping us informed (of the province’s decision to deny local entrepreneur Kevin Thomson guided tours to the top of Lions Gate Bridge’s support towers).

It is encouraging to read that the NDP minister of infrastructure and transportation has decided to consider the residents and taxpayers of Vancouver and the North Shore, and people who travel the Lions Gate Bridge on a regular basis.

Kevin Thomson, the entrepreneur, seems only interested in promoting his idea and hopefully realizing a profit. To launch a website to rally supporters shows his intent is not to help local residents or regular users of the bridge, but for his own monetary gain – that is obvious. He mentions the trouble he has gone to already; nobody asked him to do that.

For our elected officials to have to spend any time on an issue like this, seems such a waste.

Let’s get on with more important business and hope this topic will never surface again.
