Re: Build a Bridge to Belcarra, June 21 Mailbox.
Connecting North Vancouver to Belcarra has periodically been proposed. Fifty years ago, in 1967, The Province newspaper reported on the feasibility of putting a causeway across Indian Arm. This was to have the advantage of creating a huge lake and reducing substantially the tidal flow through Second Narrows.
That such a scheme would have been considered tells us something about the state of environmental considerations half a century ago.
