Finding a place to live in Vancouver is hard enough as it is, but it’s even harder for those hoping to bring an animal companion along for the ride.

Landlords in B.C. are allowed to refuse to rent to those with pets, as well as prohibit the tenant from getting a pet after the lease is signed. Recently, a North Van resident fought and won a battle against his strata to keep his golden retriever as well as his condo, leading to the question of whether landlords or strata councils should also be forced to accept our furry friends when we buy or rent a space?
